As we continue to see an upward tick in COVID-19 cases, St. Michael’s Elite Hospital is here to help with COVID-19 care and diagnostic testing. If you think you have COVID-19 or have already been exposed to the virus, we are here to help you get answers and and if necessary, get tested.
If you are experiencing symptoms or know that you have been exposed to COVID-19, register immediately for a COVID-19 test at St. Michael’s Elite Hospital by simply clicking on the red button above. You will be prompted to answer a few questions. Short and sweet. Please do not leave for St. Michael’s until you are prompted to do so via SMS messaging/text.
WE WILL PROCESS ALL REGISTRATIONS that are submitted through our site only (see directions below or choose the red button above). Due to high demand of COVID-19 tests and the time it takes for patients to register, for insurance verification and documentation, we are moving to a CASH PAY system. We will provide you with a claim form which can be turned in to your insurance company for reimbursement. We understand this may be a slight inconvenience for you; however, it allows us to process patients at a much faster rate. Our goal is to test as many people as possible to help stop the spread of this horrible viral pandemic.
NOTE: Insurance will only reimburse you for a COVID-19 test if you have been exposed to a suspected coronavirus patient or have virus symptoms as noted below.
If you have medical questions regarding COVID-19, please contact your primary care physician for answers to your questions. This allows for our emergency room phone lines to remain open for those who need emergency medical care. During an emergency, we use rapid result testing to detect the virus that causes COVID-19. This test is a nasal swab and offers results in just 15 minutes. If you’re experiencing a medical emergency and you believe is related to COVID-19, you do not need an appointment for this testing. We offer short wait times for emergency care, generally less than 5 minutes. We offer the same board-certified physicians and state-of-the-art equipment with fast wait times to help you receive the care you need as soon as possible.
For severe cases, you may require in-patient hospitalization. At St. Michael’s, we have the capabilities to provide quality in-patient medical care in our top-of-the-line hospital facilities.
This nasal swab test offers results in just 15 minutes to determine if you’re currently ill with COVID-19. Those who have previously had symptoms but have recovered are not eligible for this test and should take the antibody test (see information below).
PCR Respiratory Test: $350
Is it the Flu, COVID, RSV, or Something Else?
St. Michael’s Elite Hospital offers PCR respiratory panel testing. A nasal swab and about 30 minutes will identify one of 4 respiratory pathogens, using the Cepheid Analyzer Panel.
One Test Identifies 4 Respiratory Pathogens
- SARS-CoV-2
- Influenza A virus
- Influenza B virus
- RSV (Respiratory syncytial virus)
What is a PCR covid test? Called a molecular test, this COVID-19 test detects genetic material of the virus using a lab technique called polymerase chain reaction (PCR). A long nasal swab (nasopharyngeal swab) is inserted into your nostril taking fluid from the back of your nose or by using a shorter nasal swab (mid-turbinate swab) to get a sample. Results are available in 28-72 hours. PCR tests are very accurate when properly performed by a health care professional, but the rapid test can miss some cases. No appointments are necessary and prompt-pay services are offered. PCR tests are required for certain countries, and usually need to be performed within 72 hours of departure. Some employers might suggest and/or require a PCR test prior to returning to an office.
COVID-19 Only Rapid Test: $275
The prompt-pay price for the COVID-19 RAPID TEST is $125. If you have health insurance, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act requires your health insurance to pay for COVID-19 testing, regardless of your co-pay, deductible, co-insurance, etc. if you have been exposed to a patient with coronavirus or are experiencing symptoms.
Your insurance covers the test if clinically indicated by medical personnel, which generally means you’re showing symptoms of the illness and you’ve been exposed to the virus. For more information, check with your health insurance company for specific information about your plan and coverage.
